The quick answer
Reveal local terrain with Wayfarers, activate Boundary Stones, and explore around those travel points in manageable loops. Use Wind Sense to inspect nearby clues and Oddities. When an objective seems unreachable, check its height, route and quest requirements before treating it as a combat problem.

Open the map and complete one useful journey
Open Map from the main interface or your assigned map control. Check the region name, your current position and the selected marker. A marker’s information panel is more useful than its picture alone: it tells you what kind of destination you are selecting.
- Choose the objective you intend to visit, preferably from a tracked quest.
- Find an activated Boundary Stone with a useful approach to it.
- Select the Stone and use Teleport when available.
- Follow the remaining route while checking paths, cliffs and entrances.
- Activate any new Stone you pass so the journey is easier to repeat.
Choosing an objective marker and choosing a teleport destination are separate actions. If the selected marker is a quest or collectible, do not expect it to behave like a discovered Boundary Stone.
Reveal terrain and establish return points
Wayfarers provide regional map information; Boundary Stones serve as fast-travel anchors. Find the local Wayfarer and activate nearby Stones before making repeated trips for scattered objectives. Revealing terrain and completing the activities on it are separate accomplishments.
Choose a small area around a return point for your first sweep. Follow the landscape and visible clues, then finish at a place you can recognise. This makes it easier to resume later and reduces the chance of repeatedly inspecting the same unresolved puzzle.
Use the world as well as the map
Wind Sense helps expose interactive details that are easy to overlook. When something unusual appears, stop moving and look around before activating it. Listen for nearby activity, look above and below your position, and read any interaction text.
A flat map marker is not a complete route. It may indicate something on a roof, under a bridge or inside a space entered from elsewhere. Trace the surrounding paths and entrances instead of climbing the nearest wall repeatedly.
Know which kind of progress you are making
| Activity or reward | What to check afterwards |
|---|---|
| Regional exploration progress | The region’s available milestone rewards. |
| Oddity collection | The regional Melodies of Peace exchange. |
| A learned technique | Its use conditions and any required equipment or input. |
| Exploration attribute gains | Whether a desired exploration skill now meets its requirements. |
| A quest clue | The Quest entry and the next required action. |
Diagnose a blocked interaction
- Confirm the exact objective and region in Quest.
- Check whether the marker is above or below your current route.
- Read the mechanism or NPC prompt for a required skill or condition.
- Check prerequisite quests or missing items.
- If the requirement is not available yet, pin the obstacle with a short note and continue elsewhere.
Keep notes specific enough to help later: the nearest Stone, the apparent entrance and the missing requirement. A screenshot plus one sentence is often more useful than a large collection of unlabeled pins.
Finish regions in deliberate passes
For a first visit, prioritise travel, story access and nearby discoveries. For a second visit, target a reward or missing activity category. Only use a full collectible route when completion itself is the goal. This separates enjoyable wandering from the much more methodical task of clearing the final few entries.
When progress seems stuck, compare the region’s own categories rather than counting visible icons. Check unclaimed rewards and unfinished Quest entries, then choose one category to investigate. Randomly revisiting everything is harder to learn from than a focused search.
If a previously visited icon disappears, open the World Map’s POI Filter and enable Show/Hide Completed Gameplay. Completed activities are hidden by default under the May map changes. This helps distinguish a filtered completed objective from an undiscovered or unavailable one.

Reveal a dark area before planning a large sweep
Select the dark area’s name and inspect its Wayfarer hint. Find the campfire, speak to the Wayfarer in Solo Mode and finish the map dialogue. If the entry instead describes a story requirement, follow that requirement before searching for a shortcut into the region.
One revealed area does not mean every neighbouring region is open. Select the name of the remaining dark area and inspect its own information. This keeps map discovery separate from region access and from completing the activities inside the revealed terrain.
A worked first exploration loop
Start at a known Stone, choose one nearby quest or interaction and follow a route you can retrace. Use Wind Sense when a clue is hard to see, complete the interaction and check the reward message. Then return through a nearby path and inspect the regional progress or reward you actually affected.
For an Oddity, the next useful action may be visiting the collector. For an equipment reward, it may be opening the Bag and comparing the item. For a new technique, it may be learning how to activate it. “I explored for an hour” becomes easier to evaluate when you follow each discovery to its result.
Fix map confusion before repeating the journey
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Marker sits on empty ground | Look for a route above, below or through another entrance. |
| Map is visible but teleport unavailable | The selected marker must be an eligible activated travel point. |
| Wayfarer conversation did not reveal the area | Solo Mode, finished map dialogue and the correct area name. |
| A completed icon has disappeared | Map filters for completed gameplay. |
| You arrived but nothing starts | The exact quest stage and required interaction. |
Choose a dungeon by its puzzle
These complete dungeon routes cover chest detours as well as the final reward. Swallowlight focuses on platforms, Stone Quake on barrels, Coppergold Hollow on statue matching, Arrowfire Tongming on braziers, and the two Kaifeng routes on sound and water mechanisms.
- Swallowlight: all four chests and the moving-platform route
- Stone Quake: barrel lifts, chain explosions and the final crossing
- Coppergold Hollow: statue matching and all three side chests
- Arrowfire Tongming: both three-brazier doors and five chests
- Path of Water: bell timing, waterwheel order and five side chests
- Eight Chaotic Formations: Life, Death and Scenery room solutions

Common questions
Do I need to fight everything I pass?
No. Choose encounters that serve your current objective or that you want to experience. Unlocking travel and understanding the route can be more valuable than repeatedly clearing unrelated enemies.
Can I collect chests and Oddities in Online Mode?
Yes, supported Online Mode exploration was added with rewards and completion progress synced to Solo Mode. That does not mean every quest or puzzle supports a party. Check the activity type if an interaction remains unavailable.
